Meet Savanna
Interested in learning more about the mastermind behind the scenes? Savanna Nave is the owner, and this has been a long-time dream of hers. “I’ve had a passion for home decor and entrepreneurship since I can remember. I grew up watching Candice Olson on HGTV instead of cartoons and selling my hand made pencil cases in the girl’s bathroom at school. My love for home decor really took off when my mom and I would go to the store downtown called Scandinavian County. Susan, the owner, ended up coming into our home and decorating it for us. I followed her around and watched every move she made as she painted and decorated and transformed our house into something so beautiful. I think I really gained by eclectic style from her, and I knew I wanted a store just like hers someday and the fact that I’m now right across the street from her old store is so full circle for me.”
So how did she get her? How did Solana come to be? Savanna lived in California for a few years near Solana Beach. When planning for her family, she vowed to name her daughter Solana if she ever had a little girl. However, she was blessed with two boys! When the boutique opportunity came to her, she finally had her Solana. Savanna shared, “I never got to use my girl name, but when I decided I was going to jump in feet first and make my dreams of owning a business come true, I decided Solana was the perfect name as it means ‘sunny spot’ in Spanish.” Savanna first explored home decor and design, when moving back to Missouri into a “broken windowed farmhouse”, using what she had she transformed the house into a home and fell in love with DIY and decor. She first began to share her passion through a blog. “It’s been hard to be patient and wait for ‘my turn’ to have my dream career, but I truly believe everything happens when it’s supposed to and how it’s supposed to. Both of the jobs I had the last 7 years really set me up to where I am at now. My co-workers and bosses believed in me more than I did myself for so long and I will always be grateful for their overwhelming love and support.”
The boutique is full of unique and special items hand picked by Savanna. She said, “there are a couple of local makers, who are close to my heart, in the store who make quality, stunning pieces that are so special to me as well.” Solana carries everything from glassware to lighting to wine bottle toppers. The event space is a small space perfect for showers or birthday parties. And upstairs you’ll find the 5 bedroom vacation rental. You can come in for your party in the event space, shop the boutique and go rest your head upstairs.
Savanna shared, “My family and friends are really the reason for everything. I grew up with extremely supportive parents who really truly let me believe I could do anything. My friends and boyfriend have been my biggest cheerleaders during all of this. I really wouldn’t be able to open this weekend or even probably being doing this at all, if it wasn’t for everyone in my life who has believed in me since the beginning of time. I’m just so grateful.”
