Downtown mural is completed

The Downtown Excelsior Partnership (DEP) recently commissioned local artist Jacob Duncan to paint a mural in the Carolyn Schutte Pocket Park in Downtown Excelsior Springs. Mr. Duncan completed the mural work on Wednesday, September 28, 2016.

Downtown Excelsior Partnership Executive Director, Lyndsey Baxter, stated, “I am thrilled to see how the local community has embraced this project. It is like they have been uplifted by the prospect of this area being completed and further revitalized by the addition of this mural. The mural is absolutely perfect in that it so accurately highlights the historical significance of downtown Excelsior Springs community.”

DEP would like to give special recognition to Nevin Spidle of Bross & Spidle Funeral Homes for donating this space to the Downtown Excelsior Partnership and allowing for the creation of the Carolyn Schutte Pocket Park. This great partnership has allowed for this area to become a beautiful attraction to downtown Excelsior Springs.

DEP is looking forward to incorporating additional murals in the downtown streetscape in the near future. The DEP organization is an advocate of art in public spaces and would like to continue these efforts to revitalize and beautify downtown.
