Happy 1st Anniversary, Other Trails!

Here are the Downtown Excelsior Partnership, Inc. we are avid coffee lovers, so we often to get visit with Jodi and Linda, but this time we had the opportunity for a special conversation in reflection of their first year in business. Did you know their original business plan was meant to be a bookstore that had coffee in the back? In Jodi’s words, “Everybody just heard coffee and didn’t even think about books. So we took a left turn and started looking into coffee shops and yeah, here we are.” Before this, Jodi worked at a print shop and Linda still works for Mediacom, but still spends plenty of time baking those delicious treats we are all able to enjoy.

The best part of this year has been the people Jodi said, he has made a lot of new friends. As opposed to where he worked before, independently, now he has met hundreds of new people and made lasting friendships. The hardest part however, has been keeping up with all the baking! If you haven’t tried their delicious treats (especially the pumpkin bars), you must! They are looking forward to growth in the next year, with Linda retiring and hiring more employees. When they’re not at the coffee shop they are walking, biking or thinking about what they need to do at the shop.

If you ask him, Jodi’s favorite drink is a plain latte, which he surprisingly never had prior to opening the doors at Other Trails! However, the most common drink ordered is the “Mother’s Day Latte”, which is a delicious mix of toffee, brown sugar and cinnamon flavors. We would even suggest a Dirty Chai Tea Latte, add pumpkin, too! Make sure you stop in and congratulate them, plus, it’s never a bad idea to get a coffee and sweet treat!
