Historic Sites and Tours

The magnificent Hall of Waters is an architectural gem of Art Deco design. A self-guided tour is located around the world’s longest water bar. The Excelsior Springs Museum is a vast tribute to our town’s mineral water past. Our historic golf course features a preserved walnut log cabin, as well as a commemoration to the Battle of Fredericksburg, a Civil War skirmish that took place there. Tour the Elms Hotel to see where President Harry S. Truman spent election night. The Inn on Crescent Lake is a beautiful mansion within a crescent-shaped moat built for Dr. McCleary, founder of the McCleary Clinic. Dr. McCleary wrote the short book “Wapoo”, a mythical Indian tale about Excelsior Springs as Peace Valley. Within 15 minutes, visit the Watkins Historic Woolen Mill and Jesse James family home. Lots more to enjoy in our three National Register Historic Districts!
