Celebrating 5 Years … Inside the World of Custom Jewelry

At Sturm Brothers’ Custom Design and Fine Jewelry, visitors can shop our uniquely curated collection of fine jewelry pieces in a range of precious metals and genuine stones or design a custom jewelry piece. The Sturm Bros’ showroom is an open workspace designed to give clients access to the entire jewelry creation process, from designing to casting to stone setting.  Customers can view each step and have their questions answered along the way, making memories and jewelry simultaneously.

The Sturm brothers, Jordan and Joseph, grew up in the jewelry industry.  They each developed a love for jewelry and decided to open Sturm Brothers’ Custom Design & Fine Jewelry in 2017. Jordan is a graduate of the New Approach School for Jewelers and Joseph became CAD certified jewelry designer in 2019. Together with their mother TJ, their sister-in-law Libby, and Joseph’s wife Megan, they have created a one-of-a-kind jewelry experience for their customers.

When visiting Excelsior Springs, you too can create a custom jewelry piece.  Here is a quick walk-through of our process. It all starts with a visit where, together, the client and a Sturm Bros’ team member uses the CAD program to build your jewelry dream. Next, a rendering of dream piece is printed for the client to take home. Then the designer will make any necessary final adjustments to prepare a file for the 3D printing of a plastic model of the jewelry. Some clients wish to return and try on their 3D model before the jeweler makes a mold and casts the piece in the desired metal. Last steps remain, the jeweler sets any stones and polishes up the custom creation.  The new design is ready for the clients to pick up or the jewelry piece is securely shipped anywhere in the United States. This time frame does vary depending on the complexity of jewelry piece.
