Meet Sam! DEP’s New Promotional Coordinator

Allow us the opportunity to introduce you to Sam (Samantha)! Sam joined the DEP Team on June 20th and has hit the ground running! She will be serving as the Promotional Coordinator for the Downtown Excelsior Partnership, Inc. and overseeing all of our events! She’ll be working with our Promotion Team, Christmas Team, BBQ Team & Home Brew Team! Read more to learn a little bit about Sam and where she came from!

“I am so excited to take on this new role with the Downtown Excelsior Partnership, Inc.! In my previous role I served as the Coordinator of Student Activities and Engagement at Bethel College in North Newton Kansas. This position allowed me to plan campus wide events, create partnerships with campus departments and community members, and assist college students in growing their leadership skills. With the guidance and support from the DEP team and the skills and energy I am bringing in, I believe we are going to produce some really great events in the years to come.

This summer I will be getting hitched! So while I am being introduced to you as Sam Bond, I will soon be Sam Gilmore. My fiance is a high school special education teacher and football coach, so you can find me beneath those lights every Friday night. We are dog parents to our 87 pound ball of love, Jaxon Wayne. Jax loves long walks, his toy alligator, and all the pets. When I am not at a football game or loving up on our dog, I enjoy fishing, hunting, getting my karaoke on, crafting, and spending time with family.

Even though I am born and raised in Kansas (disclaimer: I am not a die hard Jayhawk or Wildcat fan – don’t come after me), I spent six years in Missouri for my undergraduate and graduate degrees. It has been my hope to come back to Missouri to plant roots and start a family – which makes coming to Excelsior such an important move for us.

Thank you to Lyndsey Baxter and the Downtown Excelsior Partnership, Inc. Team for welcoming me with open arms. I can’t wait to work with this group and create the best possible experiences for the City of Excelsior Springs and all that come to visit us!”
