Downtown Excelsior Partnership, Inc. Achieves National Recognition as an Accredited Main Street America Program

The Downtown Excelsior Partnership, Inc. (DEP) proudly announces its continued recognition as an Accredited Main Street AmericaTM program for 2024. This esteemed accreditation signifies DEP’s commitment to community revitalization and economic sustainability, meeting rigorous performance standards set by the National Main Street Center. DEP is honored to be one of only 800 programs across the country and one of nine in the State of Missouri to receive this accreditation.

Board President, Nate Williams, expressed pride in the community’s achievements, stating, “This accreditation is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our volunteers, businesses, and community leaders. It reflects our collective commitment to fostering a thriving downtown that not only preserves our historic charm but also propels us forward economically and socially.”

In 2023, DEP demonstrated remarkable achievements in enhancing Downtown Excelsior Springs:

  • For every dollar received through the City’s Progressional Services Agreement, DEP raised an additional $9.60.
  • Over $6.94 million was spent in Downtown Excelsior Springs by consumers.
  • Nearly $209,000 was dedicated to marketing the downtown district through various publications and events
  • DEP invested more than $87,000 in beautifying downtown, making it a welcome space for residents and visitors.
  • Volunteer efforts were astounding with 8,392 hours contributed, valued at $266,852.88.
  • Downtown Excelsior Springs welcomed 23,000 visitors during ticketed events and just under 404,000 visits throughout the year.
  • The Visit Excelsior website attracted nearly 214,000 visitors who viewed over 1.4 million pages, and DEP reached approximately 1.1 million people on their social media platforms.
  • DEP successfully completed 85 projects, events, and initiatives through its dedicated teams focused on organization, promotion, economic vitality, design and website.

Lyndsey Baxter, the Executive Director of DEP, added, “Our team’s persistent efforts and the community’s unwavering support have been crucial in achieving these milestones. The plans for 2024 promise event more growth and innovation, making Downtown Excelsior Springs an even more enticing destination.”

  • Extending the electrical infrastructure at the Lane of Lights
  • Completing the implementation of wayfinding signage to improve navigation and visitor experience.
  • Undergoing an organizational rebrand to reflect DEP’s evolving mission and vision for Downtown Excelsior Springs.
  • Launching YouTube video marketing to reach wider audience and showcase downtown businesses and community attractions.
  • Developing Lithia Landing to provide additional leisure opportunities.
  • Completing the Mini Mural Series to enrich the artistic landscape of downtown.
  • Launching Lyrics on the Lawn, a Summer Music Series, to celebrate local talent and foster community engagement.
  • Relocating the wine festival to the streets of downtown, enhancing its visibility, accessibility, and economic benefit.
