DEP Executive Director Receives U.S. Bank – MSAI Scholarship

The National Main Street Center and US Bank announced a new opportunity for Main Street Executive Directors from Iowa, Illinois and Missouri.  They are offering a tailored learning opportunity through National Main Street’s professional development program Main Street America Institute (MSAI).  These courses are designed for Main Street professionals and will cover aspects vital to the economic revitalization of downtown.

Participants in this program will receive two free online courses: Advanced Principles of Economic Vitality and a specialized course, Supporting Small Businesses on Main Street, designed to help achieve economic vitality goals.  In addition to these courses, participants will receive one-on-one counseling with a U.S. Bank representative to assess the ways in which banking products can support robust entrepreneurship.

Each course is three week long in the former of webinar.  Advanced Principles of Economic Vitality is scheduled for April and Supporting Small Businesses on Main Street is scheduled for June.  Both courses earn credit towards the MSAI’s Community Transformation Certificate.

DEP Executive Director stated, “I’m really looking forward to building a partnership with our neighboring U.S. Banks as they are premier partners in Main Street revitalization efforts across the country.  Additionally I am very much looking forward to learning new skills that can be implemented into our approach to further revitalize Downtown Excelsior Springs.  Without this sponsorship, DEP would not be able to afford the expenses associated with this educational format.”
