Great food with wine pairings are a specialty in downtown restaurants. Shop for wine and fun wine-related items, visit a wine cave, relax in a wine cellar and listen to live music. It’s time to start planning your wine weekend now!
Pour Yourself A Glass Or Two
Four Horses and a Dog Vineyard and Winery is located at 15010 Salem Road. Created in 2008, Four Horses was brought to life by two couples with a love of wine. In addition to their own wine, they offer local beer, Missouri hard ciders, mimosas and sangrias. Popcorn, chips, meat and cheese trays, and snack platters are also available for purchase.
Van Till Family Farm Winery, 13986 Highway C, Rayville, is a family-owned winery that offers a scenic country setting with full table service. Tuesday through Saturday, their wine room and wine garden are open for tastings. Antipasto trays, sandwiches, salds and fresh basked breads are also available. On Fridays and Saturdays, their popular wood-oven baked pizza is available. Van Till hosts a variety of events, including live music. They also offer a wine club for those who fall in love with their wines and are interested in special perks.
Fence Stile Vineyards and Winery offers wine with a few extras. They are the only winery in the region with a wine cave. They offer tastings and tours with space available to enjoy your drinks on the patio overlooking their vineyards, in the Cellar Garden or in the indoor Tasting room. They also have outdoor firepits for cozy gatherings.
All three locations offer tastings, events and their own unique styles, as well as offering private tours and event space rental to provide you and your party with a beautiful backdrop for any special occasion.
Get Lost In The Largest Selection of Missouri Wine
Guests will feel right at home when they step inside the quaint shop and bistro that is Willow Spring Mercantile.
The Mercantile, owned by Jim and Daphne Bowman, has been a staple of downtown for over a decade. Walking in the brick storefront, you’re transported into a world of wine and food, smiles and great conversation. On any given day you might be treated to the wonderful aromas of fresh cooking and newly ground coffee while perusing over 300 Missouri wines from around the state. Besides wine, other items for sale include craft beer and spirits, coffees, teas, packaged gourmet food items, apparel and other local novelty items.
Through the shop and down the stairs is Willow Spring’s Bistro, open daily for lunch and twice a month for dinner. Dishes are made with real, fresh and locally sourced ingredients, with substitutions available for those with food sensitivities. Menu items include appetizers such as the season fruit and cheese plate or red pepper hummus, salads like the Almond Ceaser, flatbread pizzas, specialty sandwiches and wraps, and decadent homemade desserts.
Second Weekends in Downtown Excelsior Springs brings extended hours to The Mercantile on Friday night and live music into the evening. Second Weekends is a downtown event that takes place the second weekend of each month where businesses stay open later and often include special guests and promotions. You can check their social media for all the details.
Another popular monthly Willow Spring occurrence is the coveted Four-Course Wine Dinner. This ticketed event features a Missouri winery joining Jim, Daphne and guests for a gourmet four-course meal accompanied by four select Missouri wines to compliment each dish.
